It's dreamy, it's crowded, it can be heavy and it's awesome. Santa Cruz is known as "Surf City USA" for a reason and Steamer's Lane is positioned in the most public of venues. A tourist with a disposable camera can get great photos since they are so close to the action, but beware. Do not cross over the barricade - bad stuff happens a lot to those too close to the edge.
